Tēnei tūranga - About the Role:
NZGP is a branch within The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE). We have a vision for New Zealand’s government procurement to be fair, transparent, inclusive, and efficient. It will deliver more value and respond to changing government priorities.
While we live and breathe procurement, our branch is a support function to those doing the mahi in the procurement system – government agencies and the suppliers and providers they work with. We are less of a procurement shop than a shop filled with data, systems, communications, contract and project management people who love procurement. And yes, we have some procurement specialists!

Following recent transformation, we currently have an excellent opportunity for three All-of-Government (AoG) Commercial Analysts to join the NZGP branch. The AoG Commercial Analysts will report into one an AoG Portfolio Managers, you will bring to this position your passion for customer service and your experience or keen interest in working with large sets of data.

The Commercial Analyst AoG will assist and work in collaboration with the Commercial Specialist and Senior Commercial Specialist to help achieve the best possible commercial and procurement outcomes for government.

Our ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience;

  • You will naturally love providing excellent customer service
  • May have experience working with diverse stakeholders
  • Goes without saying you will have excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to analyse data to drive informed procurement decisions.
  • Excellent collaboration skills and love working in a team
  • Project coordination and/or administration experience
  • Ideally an understanding or interested in how government works
  • Ability to adapt to different situations
  • Comfortable working in a changing environment
  • Commercial or technical experience in relevant category or sector (desirable, not essential).
The successful candidate will have a passion of public service and living MBIEs values will be demonstrated and core to the person.
