Job Overview: As a Cost Accounting Officer, you will oversee and manage the store's department's cost-related functions. Your primary focus will be store-keeping, variance analysis of completed jobs, budgeting for inventory requirements, report writing, and other duties related to cost accounting. Your role is crucial in ensuring efficient inventory management and cost control within the organization.
Responsibilities:
Store-keeping Functions: Oversee the receipt, storage, and issuance of materials and inventory items.
Maintain accurate records of stock levels, ensuring regular stock counts and reconciliation.
Monitor stock movement, identifying slow-moving or obsolete items, and proposing appropriate actions.
Variance Analysis of Completed Jobs: Analyze the cost variance between actual and standard costs for completed jobs or projects.
Investigate and identify reasons for cost discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.
Collaborate with relevant teams to implement cost-saving measures and process improvements.
Budgeting for Inventory Requirements: Work with department heads and project managers to determine inventory requirements for ongoing and upcoming jobs or projects.
Assist in developing budgets for inventory purchases and consumption.
Monitor actual expenses against budgeted amounts and report on budget performance.
Report Writing: Prepare detailed reports on inventory levels, consumption, and cost analysis.
Present findings and insights to management in a clear and concise manner.
Generate ad-hoc reports as required to support decision-making processes.
Other Related Duties: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth inventory flow and cost control.
Provide support in cost-related audits and compliance activities.
Assist in implementing and maintaining cost accounting systems and procedures.
Qualifications:
Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Cost Accounting Knowledge: Solid understanding of cost accounting principles, variance analysis, and inventory management.
Previous experience in cost accounting or a related field is highly advantageous.
Analytical Skills: Proficient in data analysis and interpretation to identify cost-saving opportunities and areas for improvement.
Ability to work with large datasets and use financial software effectively.
Communication and Reporting: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong report writing abilities with the capacity to present complex financial information clearly.
Detail-Oriented: Keen attention to detail to ensure accuracy in cost calculations and inventory records.
Team Player:Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and work harmoniously towards common goals.

Pay: ₦150,000.00 - ₦200,000.00 per month
