The Department of Health is seeking a Health Care Nurse Surveyor to evaluate the compliance of health care facilities, which include but are not limited to hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, and abortion clinics with state and/or federal regulations. In this position, you will conduct inspections of acute and ambulatory care facilities to evaluate the quality of care and services and to determine compliance with state and/or federal regulations. Staff evaluate facilities during routine or abbreviated surveys based on license expiration. The work may require irregular hours in order to evaluate the facility's policies and practices. Additional types of surveys include complaint and incident investigations, occupancy inspections, and revisits to confirm that the facility has followed their plan of correction to eliminate an identified problem. Inspections are completed in Philadelphia County and at times, travel outside that territory is necessary.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment.
- Work hours are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may be expected to work from home (telework) full-time on days that you are not out on survey at a facility. You must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Norristown.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Minimum Experience and Training Requirement:
- Possession of an active license to practice as a Registered Nurse issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing; or possession of a non-renewable temporary practice permit issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
- All positions require possession of an active motor vehicle license.
- All positions require successful completion of the relevant provider-specific federally mandated Surveyor Minimum Qualifications training and Test (SMQT) provided by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services or an equivalent certifying body for the discipline, within one year of hire.
- All employees possessing non-renewable temporary practice permits must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one-year period as defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
