Koch Engineering Solutions is seeking a Process Engineer for flares. The Flare process engineer is responsible for process design of thermal oxidizer systems and supports the commercial, order execution and aftermarket service teams for our Flare product line. We serve the international refining petrochemical, midstream, downstream and pharmaceutical markets. The job location will be Dammam, Saudi Arabia.
Our Team
You will be part of the engineering team responsible for Process Engineering activities to ensure fulfilment of the Flare projects for the major gas processing, refining or petrochemical industries. You will be expected to work very closely with the Sales, Project management, After Market and Mechanical design teams to ensure the equipment performance requirements are achieved. Should understand the needs of our customers based on previous experiences and be able to leverage those experiences to provide meaningful guidance and insight for our customers and our company. You will be working in a multidisciplinary team and ensure that the Flares package meets the process and quality requirement of the project.

What You Will Do- Responsible for complete process design of combustion equipment i.e., Flares & KOD selection, performance evaluation, emission calculation, risk assessment and Risk mitigation.
- Develop and apply engineered solutions for customer applications by understanding the specifications and anticipating the customers' needs.
- Prepare/Review Process documents such as
- Heat and Material balance & Process flow diagram (PFD).
- Process data sheet & Piping & Instrumentation diagram (P&ID).
- Control narratives & cause and effect matrix (C&E).
- Checking/Preparation of all Process Calculations like equipment sizing, Hydraulics, radiation analysis, Flare/Vent header, PSV, Blowdown etc.
- Review of vendor documents and technical bid evaluation
- Participates in safety, environmental and operability reviews (HAZOP, HAZID, ENVID, SIL).
- Handle a project independently and interacting with all parties concerned both internal and external
- Exhibit strong interpersonal competence and as an effective Team player, work with Multi-National Clients and demonstrate effective communication.
- Guarantee the respect of best practice and standards, establish, and capitalize new standards when applicable.
- Willingness to travel for customer meetings, site inspections, troubleshooting and performance tests activities.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Experience in Process Engineering for gas processing, refining or petrochemical industries; experience in combustion equipment will be also desirable.
- Chemical, Petrochemical, mechanical Engineering education background
- Excellent communication skill in Arabic and English
- Strong adherence to compliance
- Available to travel 25%.
What Will Put You Ahead
- Experience working with combustion equipment
- Process design experience with flares or other combustion systems or equipments.
- Experience in the refining / petrochemical industries.
- Having good experience in chemical engineering simulation software like HYSYS, UNISIM, FLARENET, FLARESIM, PIPENET, PIPESIM etc.
- Process engineering role supporting fired combustion equipment, combustion control, or related areas within refinery and chemical plant operations.
- Process design experience with burners for process heaters or industrial boiler packages.
- Experience with working directly with international customers and suppliers.
